What we collect and why
When you visit any page
The site is static: it has no forms and no accounts, and we receive nothing from your visit. Our host, GitHub, records visitors' IP addresses to keep its service secure, as described in its own privacy statement. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in operating a secure website.
When you email us
We collect what you send: usually your name, email address and message. We use it to reply to your enquiry and, where it leads to work, to take steps before entering into a contract with you. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in answering enquiries about our business, or steps at your request before a contract. We keep correspondence for as long as we need it to deal with your enquiry or any work that follows.
Cookies and tracking
This site sets no cookies, uses no browser storage and has no analytics or advertising trackers. Fonts and images are served from this site, not from third parties.
Who processes data for us
- GitHub, Inc. hosts the website (GitHub Pages) and may process visitors' IP addresses in the United States.
- Google hosts our email (Google Workspace).
Each acts on our instructions under data processing terms. Where data leaves the UK, it is covered by the safeguards in those terms.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries and correspondence: TODO(director): retention period for enquiries that don't lead to work (suggested: 24 months after last contact).
- Client records: as long as the law requires for company and tax records.
Your rights
You have the right to access your personal data, and to ask us to correct it, erase it, restrict how we use it or give it to you in a portable form. You can object to processing based on legitimate interests. To use any of these rights, email hello@horizonware.co.uk. We respond within one month.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or 0303 123 1113. We'd appreciate the chance to put things right first.
